Description: Lloyd’s Register Group Limited (LR) is a global independent risk management and safety assurance organisation that works to enhance safety and to approve assets and systems at sea, on land and in the air. Lloyd’s Register Group Limited, its subsidiaries and affiliates provide services designed to help clients around the world to achieve their business goals, while optimising safety and quality, and protecting, even improving, the environment. Within LR the Marine Business participates in technical meetings of IACS, contributes to the development of codes for bodies such as the IMO, and helps with the review of ISO standards. LR also acts as a ‘notified body’ for many European Community directives, helping ensure essential product safety rules work properly. To support these activities, LR maintains a marine related research activity, carries out extensive research and development activities and initiates new standards for quality and safety as the boundaries of knowledge expand.

 

Main tasks: LR will lead WP6 (Application / Case Studies), coordinating the work on the various case studies as well the other Tasks of this WP. LR will also participate in various Tasks of WP 1, 2, 4, 7 and 8.

 

Key Personnel:

Dr Reddy D N, Principal Specialist in the Strategic Research and Technology Policy Group (SRTP), has more than 25 years of experience in marine field, including fifteen years in Defence R&D Organisation of India undertaking several hydrodynamic studies. Within LR, he has been involved in applications of CFD techniques to sloshing in LNG tanks, slamming of ship sections, hydrodynamic studies for development of rules and procedures, and background studies pertaining to rules development on propellers. In SRTP he is responsible for identifying technical issues and analyzing their solutions and their implications for the Organisation. He was actively involved in recent IACS studies on minimum power requirements of ships in adverse sea conditions.

Dr Dejan Radosavljevic is currently a Senior Principal Consultant and manager of the Fluid Dynamics group within LR Marine’s Technical Investigations Department (TID). The focus of the group is on providing tailor made solutions to a wide selection of clients, primarily centred on the marine industry. They work to combine leading edge numerical modelling tools (CFD, FEA, FSI) with some novel observation and measurement techniques such as high-speed under water video and Acoustic Emissions. Dejan is also engaged in providing strategic leadership within Lloyd’s Register in the area combining fluid dynamics and resistance and propulsion. Dejan is a fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and is also a Chartered Engineer. He has published around 30 written papers and regularly attends international conferences and workshops.

Mr Dimitris Argyros, Lead Environmental Specialist in Lloyd’s Register Marine Consulting, is particularly involved in the areas of air emissions and energy efficiency at both regulatory and commercial level. This includes participating at IMO, being a member of the IACS working group focusing on the EEDI and developing the EEDI framework for vessels with nonconventional propulsion. In his current role at LR he is involved in pilot EEDI verification cases in anticipation of the regulation entering into force.
