Description: Uljanik shipyard (Croatia) is a part of the Uljanik Group (www.uljanik.hr), which main activitiescovers the areas of shipbuilding, diesel engines production, electro industry and outfitting production. Since its foundation in 1856 the Shipyard has been developing the shipbuilding activity and the high technological level has been achieved and confirmed by generations of employees. The built floating units of top quality helped procuring international references and reputation. During the years it has produced various types of ships, trying to fulfill the market demands. In the last few decades they produced, for example, Very Large Crude Oil Carriers (VLCC) of up to 275.000 dwt., container ships, reefers, Chemical tankers, Wagon carriers, RO-RO ships, livestock carriers, Car carriers, Cutter suction dredgers, Hopper Suction dredgers, Fishing vessels. Lately, the shipyard is concentrated on multipurpose RO-RO and dredging ships production. The shipyard reputation should be further increased through: a profitable business activity; the construction of ships to special orders of highest world’s quality, low costs in service and long lifetime; the construction of sophisticated ships for special purpose for dry and liquid cargo and for more demanding buyers on the world’s market; the construction of ships in competitive, shortest possible times with obligatory observing of the contractual delivery terms; quality, terms and price and a further promotion of the international reputation and recognition of the Shipyard.

 

Main tasks: Will be contributing to WP1 and WP5, whereas work in WP2 will be subcontracted to the Faculty of Engineering, University of Rijeka, Croatia.

 

Key Personnel:

Ðjani Dundara, Dipl. Eng. NA: Head designer, graduated in 1975 on the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture in Rijeka (Croatia). He has been Chief of Design Office since 1990. He has gained the Gold medal INOVA Zagreb 1987 for his work in innovative ship design. He is one of the key personnel in the European projects.
Vito Radolović, Dipl. Eng. NA: Senior-Designer, Graduated in 2006 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture in Zagreb (Croatia). He has worked in the Sales & Project Department since 2007. He is one of the key personnel in the European projects.
Obrad Kuzmanović, Dipl. Eng. NA: Senior Designer, graduated in 2002 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture in Zagreb (Croatia). He has worked in the Design Office since 2002. He is one of the key-personnel in European projects. Competences will be extended by collaboration (subcontracting) with the Faculty of Engineering, University of Rijeka, Croatia (Prof. dr. sc. Jasna Prpic-Orsic, Dr.sc. Anton Turk): Research in the field of added resistance and parametric rolling, related to EEDI and EEOI calculation.
